A candle cleansing ritual is a little magical routine you can practice to free yourself from negativity. It can be negativity in any form, this ritual is there to support and guide you.
When you feel you need to cleanse yourself from any sort of energy that is affecting you, a candle cleansing ritual is definitely helpful.
I used to perform this ritual when I had to deal with some energetic vampires, people in my life and that were sucking all the energy out of me. I felt so drained, so sad, and so depressed all the time.
How long does it take to manifest?
Usually, a cleansing ritual manifests right away, especially if performed for yourself and your space. It lasts up to 14 days, but it really depends on how powerful the negative energy around you is, so a recast would be useful after a week or so to keep these energies away from you.

Purification and preparation of candles
All candles (as well as all other magical objects), handmade or purchased, must be purified and consecrated before using them. To purify the candles, pass them over the circle opening candle, over incense, and then trace a pentacle with oil or with water and salt, turning your invocation to the Goddess.
Before using them, many grease the candles with perfumed oils or even with common cooking oil, previously consecrated. The anointing of the candles must be done by visualizing the result to be obtained, but it is not always necessary.

Most of the time, depending on the ritual that must be carried out, it is sufficient to trace a cross at the base of the candle with the thumb of the right hand-dipped in oil, or to trace symbols or seals on the candle itself that draw the strength from which we want protection for our ritual.

Lighting, extinguishing, and throwing away candles
To light candles, refer to your tradition or your preference; use matches, since they are made of wood or lighters if you think that the matches’ sulfur is incompatible with your work.
To snuff them out, do not blow on them, the magic would go away (even at birthdays, we blow on the candles to chase away the old and give way to the new).
It is preferable to moisten your fingers and close them on the wick or use a special snuffer. Only in certain rituals is the blowing out of the candle required, but these are linked to negative traditions.
You can store the drops of wax after the spells, (except the ones of removal), to add them to magic bags or talismans.

Candle cleansing ritual: beginner-friendly and effective!
This small ritual of white magic is very useful to eliminate unwanted bonds and the negativities that afflict us.
Its use is in the practice of esoteric magic as protection from negative energies deriving from incorrect or interrupted rites for various reasons.
You can also use it as a method to ward off so-called spiritual vampires.
It mainly uses the visualization technique and is simple to perform and easy to prepare.
Ingredients:
- A white candle made of virgin wax
- Three sprigs of rosemary or sage (4 cm long)
- A box of long wooden matches
- A crock or white ceramic saucer
- 1/2 teaspoon of new extra virgin olive oil
How it’s done:
Put a little oil on the palms of your hands and grease the candle at least 3 times from top to bottom with the palms of both hands simultaneously.
Light a match and heat the bottom of the candle to attach it to the saucer.
At the base (on the saucer) place one of the twigs you have collected (you will have to fumigate with the other two) and light the candle with a new match.
Now, think of and visualize all the negative things that concern you and the faces of the people you think are negative for you or may have brought you negativities.
If you don’t know the person, think about the situation, their name, something that connects you in some way.
When you feel ready and you have visualized everything and everyone well, light one of the twigs that you have put aside and let the smoke surround you, to purify you both in front and behind, from feet to head and back.
Then, let the twig finish burning, placing it in the saucer of the candle and with a little saliva, wet the index and thumb of the hand with which you write and extinguish the candle with your two fingers.
As you put out the flame, you must say aloud:
“As I extinguish this flame, all my ties will be broken, all the negativities interrupted, all the magical arts left hanging will be canceled.”
Now, light the candle you had extinguished before with a third match and visualize and imagine that all the things and people you thought of before are now positive for you.
For example: do you feel unwell when you meet someone?
Now you have to imagine it as a true sense of well-being.
The person you felt negative about before extinguishing the candle, now imagine that he smiles and loves you, etc.
At this point, light the last remaining twig with the candle flame and fumigate the room and the house, letting the whole candle be consumed completely.
When the candle goes out because it is naturally used up, ‘free’ the twig you had on the saucer and clean it in running water.
What should you do with the remains of the candle?
I highly recommend burying the remains for a similar ritual as the candle was used to banish negative energies. Bury it in a place far away from your house and never go back there.
