Motivation Spell Jar
Spell jars are an easy go-to for almost any magical intention.
They’re scrappy and customizable. You can usually find what you need around the house, or on a quick trip to the grocery store.
This one is super simple.
You will need:
–a clean, glass jar (a pint-sized one works nicely for this spell, but any size will do)
-scrap piece of paper
-a handful of coffee grounds or whole beans
-DRIED orange peel (or a few drops of orange essential oil)
-orange or yellow candle
Step 1
On the night of the new moon, write down your goals for the month. It’s okay to be a little ambitious, but don’t overwhelm yourself. Select 2-3 goals at the most, or stick to one big goal.
Step 2
Fold the piece of paper and place it in the jar. Bury the paper in the jar with coffee grounds or whole beans.
Step 3
Add a few pieces of DRIED orange peel. Do not use fresh—it will mold. Not a good vibe. If you don’t have any dried orange peel, simply take some fresh orange peel and leave it out on a sunny windowsill. It takes about a week to dry, or less if you live in a dry climate.
Alternatively, you can use a few drops of orange or lemon essential oil.
Step 4
Seal your spell jar with some wax drippings from an orange candle. In color magic, orange promotes rejuvenation and helps you to push past mental blockades.
Procrastination-Busting Magical Bath
If procrastination is your problem, this simple bath spell is your solution.
Try it in the morning before you begin your day.
You will need:
-upbeat music of your choice
-peppermint essential oil
–gemstones of your choice (citrine, amethyst, or clear quartz are traditional choices for motivation)
-energizing tea (orange, lemon, or peppermint are perfect for this intention)
Step 1
Draw a hot bath. Make sure to choose a time when you will not be distracted. Turn off your phone! Put on some music that lifts your energy. It can be all mystical and new-agey if you want, but it doesn’t have to be. It can literally be your workout playlist. Choosing music for spell work is highly personal. Pick something that works for you, and don’t worry about picking something “witchy.”
Step 2
Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Peppermint annihilates procrastination and clears the mind to prepare you for focused, high-energy productivity.
Step 3
Gather a few gemstones to place on the edge of the tub or the bathroom countertop. Citrine, amethyst, and clear quartz all have a reputation for promoting mental agility. But feel free to select stones that you’re drawn to or that make you feel mentally refreshed.
Step 4
Indulge. Soak in the bath for as long as you want. Spend some time meditating on your goals for the coming month. Clear your mind and see if you find new ideas coming to you. If not, don’t worry! Just let the magic sink in and do its work.
Step 5
Finish with a cup of tea. Peppermint, lemon, or orange blossom are all nice choices for this spell intention.
Banish Procrastination
Take another approach with a banishing spell and send procrastination packing.
You will need:
-a piece of paper
-whole garlic clove
–cauldron, fireplace, or fire-safe bowl
Step 1
On the night of the dark moon, take some time to meditate on why you seem to be stuck in the procrastination cycle. Are you afraid of failure? Do you have trouble prioritizing? Are you overwhelmed with other tasks? Do you have trouble saying no to things you don’t really want to do? Write them down. All of them.
Step 2
Fold the piece of paper and place it on your altar overnight. The next day, set fire to it in a cauldron, bonfire, fire pit or fire-safe bowl. After it cools, reserve the ashes in a fire-safe container.
Step 3
Go for a nature walk. Take your ashes with you. Scatter them somewhere far from where you live.
Walk away and don’t look back.
