Whip up a batch of these moon milk ice pops with ashwagandha powder for a cool, soothing summer treat.

You only need 4 simple ingredients to take your summer evening on the porch from mundane to magical.

What is moon milk?

Moon milk blends herbal ingredients with milk to relax at night, bringing the mind and body into harmony.

In this summer harvest version, we incorporate creamy coconut milk with in-season blackberries and honey—and if you get it fresh/local, all the better!

Magical Meaning of Ingredients

You can swap out any of these ingredients for your specific purpose in mind.  Use almond milk or cow’s milk if you prefer, or choose a different berry.

I chose the items below for their association with Lammas/Lughnasadh and the summer harvest season.

Blackberries

In modern witchcraft, blackberries are known for their healing & protection properties.

Sometimes called the devil’s fruit, blackberries ward off evil and attract woodland spirits into the garden.

Add blackberries to kitchen witch recipes to sooth tiredness and protect the spirit from malice.

Coconut Milk

The milk of coconuts symbolizes the goddess, fertility, abundance and feminine power.

Particularly in summer recipes, it also symbolizes summer love and sensuality.

Include it here to promote prosperity, romance and your inner goddess.

Honey

Basically summer in liquid form, honey contains the plant signature of whatever region produced it.

Every jar of honey produced by a given honey farm is as unique as a bottle of wine.

In food magic and kitchen witchery, honey represents sunlight, sun magic, the masculine divine, bees and relationship between earth & sky.

Ashwagandha (optional)

This herb is grown in India and commonly used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.

Some people say it helps reduce stress and calm the mind.

In moon milk, ashwagandha calms the spirit and prepares the mind for a restful sleep.

Warning:  Do not ingest ashwagandha if you are pregnant.

If you don’t have or want ice pop molds.

I love the way these ice pop molds give the ice pops a classic shape.

But if you don’t have or want to purchase the molds, you can use paper cups instead.

Ingredients

-1 (13.5) ounce can coconut milk

-1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries

-1/3 cup honey

-1 tsp ashwagandha root powder

ice pop molds

-popsicle sticks

Step 1

Place blackberries, honey, coconut milk, and ashwagandha in a blender.

Blend on high until smooth and creamy.

Step 2

Pour mixture into ice pop molds.

Place in freezer.  After 1-2 hours, or once the liquid reaches semi-solid form, insert ice pop sticks.

Place back in the freezer for another 2 hours, or overnight.

Gently remove moon milk ice pops and enjoy in the evening for cool, creamy nighttime summer snack.

  1. Is there an alternative to the honey for vegans? I would love to make these for my sister but she can’t have honey
