Lotus

Representing the space where land meets water, the lotus flower symbolizes connection with the divine and universal consciousness.

Add a few drops of lotus essential oil to your favorite unscented lotion or massage oil.

Then, use it to give yourself a foot massage.

Peppermint

Got a tension headache?

Fill a bowl with hot (but not scalding) water.  Add 5-10 drops of peppermint essential oil.

Soak a cotton rag in the solution.  Then fold it into thirds, lay down and place it across your forehead. avoiding contact with eyes.

Chamomile

The apple-like fragrance of this sweet-smelling herb lightens the air in any room.

Earthy-smelling thyme grounds and centers chaos.

Ashwagandha

The latest trend in herbalism, Ashwaganda is having a bit of a moment.

An important Ayurvedic herb, the commercially available version usually comes in powder form.

While ancient Indian healers have been using it for thousands of years to manage stress and other conditions, it seems the Western needed some time to catch up.

Add some to your next batch of moon milk and drop your baggage outside the sacred circle this coming Esbat.

Eucalyptus

Herbalists use its volatile essential oil as an expectorant to loosen phlegm and open airways.

It also happens to alleviate pent-up rush hour rage.

Boil a pot or food-safe cauldron of water on the stove.  Add 5-10 drops of eucalyptus oil.  Allow the vapors permeate your living space.

An especially perfect relaxation ritual while you recover from a cold or flu.

Lavender

Perhaps most famous for its relaxation properties, lavenders earthy/floral fragrance lulls you into tranquility.

Burn some dried lavender flower on a charcoal disk at the end of a long day and let the smoke carry away your worries.
