Quicksilver is an old name for the metal mercury given because of mercury’s reflective appearance, like silver and its liquid form which gave it the ability to move, as if it were alive.
The term “quick” often referred to those things that had life.

I am a homesteading hearth witch who grew up along the shores of the Hudson River and has lived among the Great Lakes for the past 20 years.
