When I think about a magickal journey, I think about all the little things we discover as we explore our craft.! Something catches your attention, you read about it and then you try a simple practice to see how it feels.
Sometimes you find something you love. Other times, you realize it isn’t for you. Both experiences can teach you something! For me, this journey is about exploring with curiosity and respect.
You don’t need to know everything right away or rush into practices you don’t understand yet.
Take baby steps and give yourself time to build a connection with what you are doing. Your craft can grow slowly and still be meaningful.
What is a magickal journey?
The word journey can have a few meanings in spiritual practice. It sometimes describes an intentional meditation or a practice such as astral projection, used to explore questions about yourself or seek spiritual insight.
In this sense, you begin with a purpose and spend time exploring what comes up through images, feelings or reflection.
But a magickal journey can also mean your whole experience with witchcraft and spirituality.
It includes what you learn, the practices you try, the people you meet and the ways your understanding changes. I like this wider meaning because it gives room to every part of the process, even the moments when you feel unsure.
Where should you begin?
Begin with something that interests you! Maybe you feel drawn to candles, herbs, tarot or the moon!
Choose one subject and spend a little time getting to know it before adding more. You don’t need to learn five different practices in the same week.
I would start with reading, observing and trying something simple. If the moon interests you, notice its phases and write about how you feel during the month.
If you enjoy candle magick, learn about setting an intention and using your candle safely. Small practices give you room to understand what you enjoy and why.
