This article presents ten contemporary methods for observing Yule, a midwinter celebration with roots in pre-Christian Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon traditions. The author traces the etymological origins of the term “Yule” from Proto-Germanic sources and discusses how modern Neo-Pagan and Heathen practitioners have adapted ancient customs into accessible practices, including crafting ice art, building ritual fires with traditional herbs, and planting evergreens imbued with written intentions.
