Element of Air: 10 Ways to Stay Connected to the Sky

Sometimes, I get over-grounded.  I call this “getting stuck in the mud.”  When this happens, I know it’s time to reconnect to the Element of Air.

Born a Gemini, Aquarius or Libra? 

Maybe you love the sound of wind at night. 

Or perhaps while everyone else on the airplane wrings her hands at the sensation of turbulence, you feel noticeably at ease in the midst of forceful air currents? 

Put the wind back in your sails with the suggestions below to honor your air sign or simply the Element of Air in you.

Try deep breathing.

It sounds so simple, yet so few people take the time to do it, and the results feel amazing. 

I once heard a saying that I constantly repeat to my yoga students:  “It’s impossible to breathe deeply and still feel anxious.”  You won’t believe the difference it makes until you try it yourself.

Go fly a kite.

If you struggle to remember the last time you experienced the thrill of tugging on a kite string as it goes sailing into the air, rekindle your love of kites!

Never have any luck finding feathers?  Try picking up some peacock feathers at your local store and make an epic ritual headpiece.

Go on a hot air balloon ride.

Literally touch the clouds.

This one is an especially awesome date or proposal idea for the air sign in your life.

Hot air balloon rides are a once-in-a-lifetime experience that take you out of your comfort zone and into the great expanse of the sky.

Find a charitable organization that pushes for stronger clean air legislation and help them out, either by volunteering or making a monetary contribution.  Your sign will thank you.
